  1. Glad to see The Royal Tenenbaums got a guernsey (inspired by recently rewatching Tenenbaums to rewatch Rushmore and re-realised how much I love those films). Nothing on the list that shouldn't be there: I might have swapped The New World for Badlands, Mulholland Drive for Lost Highway and tried to make room for Once Upon a Time in America. Otherwise an excellent list.

    Regards,

    John.

  2. John,

Agree with you about the necessity for Leone (always, always) but look closer - we're talking decades me boy.

Plus, on a personal note, remember the last time I watched Tenenbaums...that screening really put its glory into perspective.

  3. It was all in the title. I'm very unobservant (and embarrassed). Ignore what I said and carry on as you were.

    Regards,

    John.

  4. John -

Don't be embarrassed - it's only you and me trading comments here for the moment (and, more than likely, for the rest of this blog's life). We can only mock and embarrass each other.

    Adam (er, David).

p.s. Also started watching the Simon/Burns scripted Generation Kill the other night. Two episodes in, and it's excellent so far. You'd dig it.

  6. Hey Mark - welcome!

It is, but only stateside at present - though (just checked) according to EzyDVD it's getting released here locally at the end of September. The copy I'm watching in drips and drops is a rental from Video Dogs, the local Carlton video store which has pretty much EVERY import/boxset imaginable. Going in there is wonderful/exhausting.

And fuck, it's GREAT. Ep. 3 (just watched it a day or two ago) was the best yet. There's only 7 episodes in total, and to the best of my knowledge it's a one-shot series (don't want to look too closely into that lest spoilers trip my feet). Anyway, worth a look, and a lot less time-consuming that 5 seasons of The Wire (not that it's hard, of course). GK feels more cinematic...hhhmmm, I'll explain that later, ideally here when I'm done with the whole show...

    Adam.
